It is probably going to be a while before we recover the beauty that Vara Blanca -The Peace Lodge is located there- had. Even if the infrastructure could be repaired it still will take Nature sometime to recover such pristine aspect as it had before the earthquake of this past Thursday, Jan, 8th.

LA PAZ WATERFALL

La Paz waterfall is for sure the most famous waterfall in Costa Rica and probably the most visited. This magnificent spot is located only a couple of minutes from the known Poas Volcano, and surrounded by lush tropical rainforest with the representative stunning green color and intense life of Costa Rica.

The whole area, called Vara Blanca, is part of the Central Valley, and despite being so close from San José and even closer to the Juan Santamaria International Airport, it is incredibly exuberant and full of nature. Because of its proximity and good access, enjoying the region and its attractives is much easier. The main road from the town of Alajuela leads to both the Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall, offering as well amazing views of the coffee plantations and the wonderful unspoiled forests.

The journey through the main road to la Paz Waterfall offers a couple of charming restaurants and cafes, the perfect occasion to make a stop and taste the costarrican food and of course, drink a delicious coffee. Proper signs bring you to the expected waterfall. Many visitors just take some pictures from the bridge right in front of it and pass by following the road to Sarapiqui. However, our proposal is to get into La Paz Waterfall Gardens, and get the chance to wander around its trails, gardens and interesting exhibitions about representative costarrican flora and fauna.

LA PAZ WATERFALL GARDENS PARK

La Paz Waterfall Gardens Park is an important attraction in Costa Rica. Despite not being a national park itself, its facilities offer a complete experience surrounded by the most exuberant nature. Visitors can walk 3.5 kilometers of trails, as well as spending a wonderful time at the Butterfly Observatory, Hummingbird Garden, Serpentarium, Frog Exhibit, the Tica House (typical costarrican house) and the Trout lake.

Five wonderful waterfalls await along the trails, a fascinating view that delights all senses and gives you the opportuniy to take spectacular pictures. As for the flora and fauna expositions, they count on hundreds of species of amazing creatures such as butterflies, hummingbirds, frogs and snakes. Observing these animals, among other species of birds that live in the area, is a fascinating experience and for sure a memorable moment of your trip.

Furthermore, the Waterfall Gardens Park has somehing else to offer. In the middle of its lush vegetation lays a wonderful hotel called Peace Lodge. This is one of the most prestigious and by far the most exotic hotel in the area. Its elegant and fine decorated rooms and the exuberant surroundings make it a preferible lodge for honeymoon trips, and also for everyone who wants to delight in one of the Costa Rica's Unique Hotels.
